I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience of working with wide-ranging mental health difficulties amongst adults in NHS settings. I have strong clinical and therapeutic skills and offer a safe and compassionate reflective space to work collaboratively with clients using NICE Guidance recommended treatments.
Much of my experience has been working with individuals who experience longstanding difficulties in relationships, emotional coping difficulties, anxiety, low and fluctuating mood, low self-esteem, self-harm, and PTSD. I am passionate about helping individuals to build a better understanding of how they relate to themselves, others, and their emotions. Often, this is via helping individuals to recognise how their past experiences have impacted them, and to notice and change patterns of coping which may have left them feeling ‘stuck’ in life and relationships.
People I have worked with have described me as a genuine, warm and compassionate therapist, who is honest, committed, and reliable.
The core therapeutic models I work within are Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. However, my experience allows me to be informed by other models such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Within my NHS career, I also have extensive experience developing and offering group-based psychoeducational skills treatment, such as trauma stabilisation and coping with voice-hearing.
I am committed to developing the research-base of effective psychological therapies and am currently involved in collecting outcomes for Cognitive Analytic Consultation which is a team-based approach I use within my NHS work aimed at supporting healthcare staff to work effectively with individuals experiencing complex mental health difficulties.
